Video is now available.

Wow!!, what a great day for a ride on a wonderful trail. We headed out this morning for Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT).  Had a pretty nice trip going over there only it seemed like everybody was driving like 40 MPH this morning, must have something with it being such a beautiful day. We got to the Shangri La trail head, got our gear together and then headed out. Seeing how this was a what I call a Promo ride, I had the video camera's all attached and hooked up and all was going well. I got some pretty good footage especially out off the Eagle Vista loop. About a mile or two from Mountain Harbor Road one of the camera's decided to go on the fritz, for some reason the battery just went dead, maybe time for a new one. I still managed to get some pretty good footage before it went dead and still had the second one rolling so hopefully I can get some good stuff posted for this trail.

The trail was in great shape, a few places could use a little weed whacking and there were a couple of trees down but overall the trail was in really great shape. There were a lot of people out on the trail today, we met three hikers and nine bikers, a couple from Louisiana, two ladies from Fort Smith, one guy from Little Rock, one fellow from Benton and the other three I am not sure where they were from. One lady said it all today when she said mountain bikers are the friendliest people, and you know she is right. Mountain bikers always stop on the trail and talk to each other just seems natural.

We are starting to ride this trail more and more it seems here lately, maybe even more than we do the Womble, this trail has such a nice flow to it and almost every can enjoy it. On our way out we stopped and checked out the trail addition which includes the paved trail and the elevated trail which will eventually connect to the old Hwy 70 bridge which will be the parking lot in the future for the trail. Looks like they have all the paved trail done and most of the elevated trail is completed. This will be a nice addition once it is all finished. With all this and such a nice trail I wonder how long it will be before someone decides to hold a race out there, I think it would be a pretty good event.

If you haven't been out to LOViT then now is a good time to load up that bike and let it enjoy some really smooth ridding. The sections between Denby Point and Joplin are great if you want a fast, flowing ride. If its climbing and some hard workouts you want then check out the section from Joplin to Hickory Nut Mountain.
